Mesquite, TX - December 10, 2015 – The City of Mesquite City Council has authorized a partnership with Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. to create the Helping Others in Mesquite Everyday (HOME) program to assist Mesquite home owners with hardships needing minor home repairs and maintenance. To help kickoff the HOME program, the Rotary Club of Mesquite presented a $2,500 donation.
HOME embraces the spirit of the highly successful Addressing Mesquite Day on a continuous basis. Addressing Mesquite Day is one of the largest one-day volunteer events in the North Texas region in which volunteers gather to perform needed tasks for the elderly and disabled residents.
Mesquite homeowners will receive aid through the HOME program based upon eligibility requirements and staff referrals from the City of Mesquite Code Enforcement Department. Volunteer groups and contractor partners, providing services at reduced costs, will perform exterior house and yard repairs. Overall management of the program will be the responsibility of the Housing and Community Services Department.
