Mesquite, TX – March 4, 2021 – The City of Mesquite will host a virtual information session and workshop on March 19 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to begin the process of accepting applications for its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Program Year 2021-2022. This workshop is mandatory for organizations interested in applying for the CDBG funding. To register for the workshop, please visit www.cityofmesquite.com/21-CDBG-RFP.
Mesquite receives CDBG funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds are available to eligible non-profits, city departments and neighborhood organizations. Agencies and organizations interested in applying for CDBG funding are required to have a minimum of one representative attend the information session and they must have a program that meets one of the following federal national objectives:
- Benefits persons of low to moderate income.
- Aids in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight.
- Meets community development needs that have a particular urgency.
Applications will be available online at www.cityofmesquite.com/CDBG beginning Friday, March 19. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 23 by 5 p.m.
If selected, funding will be available to the agencies and organizations starting October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
