Mesquite, TX – December 17, 2021 – The City of Mesquite announced the Mesquite Veterans Memorial has been chosen to be one of more than 3,100 participating locations around the world for the Wreaths Across America program on Saturday, Dec. 18. The memorial is located next to City Lake Park at 425 S. Galloway Avenue and will feature nine live balsam wreaths from Maine. The nine wreaths will be placed by local Boy Scout Troop 138. The wreaths will be on display on Saturday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 19
Wreaths Across America is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, their mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
