The Mesquite Housing Division administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. This program is a tenant-based rental assistance program funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Mission


The mission of the City of Mesquite Housing Division is to encourage independence, provide housing assistance, and family stability throughout the city to the families we serve by following HUD guidelines with consistent, professional customer service, and teamwork.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
All times are Central Standard Time (CST)

The online pre-application will be available at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/TX1169.

Applications will only be accepted through the online portal. Persons with valid documentation of disability requiring assistance to complete the application may receive assistance completing their online application at the Mesquite Housing Division (MHD) located at 1616 N. Galloway Ave. Mesquite, TX 75149.

Applicants will be selected and ordered using a random lottery system after MHD stops accepting applications at 5:00 p.m. on June 27, 2019. Only 2000 applicants will be selected in the lottery and will be placed on the waiting list.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program assists low income families with the cost of housing. Once the eligible family finds a rental unit and the landlord agrees to lease the unit to them, an inspection will be performed to assure it meets housing quality standards.
