Building Inspection

The City of Mesquite is excited to announce the launch of the City's new online permit and plan management system. As of May 2017, users of the online platform are now able to: submit permit and plan applications for Planning and Zoning, Building Inspection, Fire Inspection and Engineering review; pay fees for a variety of development services; access electronic plan reviews by the City; request inspections online; access online applications for professional licenses (formally known as Contractor Registration) and more. Building Inspection is a division of the Planning and Development Services Department of the City of Mesquite, which performs ordinance enforcement in the areas of both residential and commercial construction. Both new and remodel work is inspected to make sure compliance to all adopted codes is met. Construction permits are required, plans reviewed, and permits issued by the division.

Responsibilities


Building Inspection is responsible for the inspection of buildings and structures during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and all governing building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, energy, and state codes. Building Inspection also makes routine inspections of multi-family apartments, single-family rental units, and hotel / motel for code compliance.

Construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the Building Inspection Division, and such construction or work shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved.
