Texas Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony

Join Historic Mesquite, Inc., Mesquite ISD, and the City of Mesquite on Monday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. for a Texas Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony for Civilian Conservation Corps Camp 850. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal Programs. The local camp operated in Mesquite from 1935 to 1941. The young men stationed at the camp were involved in creating levees along the East Fork of the Trinity River. It also served as a site for educational demonstrations for farmers on terracing, pasture contouring, strip-cropping and pasture sodding and seeding. The ceremony will take place at the Mesquite High School Baseball Fields, located at 402 E. Kimbrough Street
