Online eCard 

The Mesquite Public Library offers an online eCard for Mesquite residents only.

Note: If you already have a library card from the Mesquite Public Library, you will not be issued an eCard. Both traditional library cards and nonresident cards provide the same online privileges as an eCard.

(To access online resources with a traditional library card, use your card number and PIN. Hint: The PIN may be the last 4 digits of your telephone number.)

An eCard: 

  • Is a virtual library card that allows access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, databases and other electronic resources.
  • Will be issued via email.
  • Is available to Mesquite residents 14 years or older.
  • Is good for 3 years and may be renewed online.
  • Cannot be used to access internet computers in the Library or to checkout physical books, CDs, DVDs, etc.

Mesquite Public Library offers a variety of full-text online services that are available from your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other internet accessible device. 

Gale Presents: Udemy is an online learning platform for adults who want to improve work-related skills or further develop a personal interest. Users can search through thousands of continuously updated, on-demand video courses across 75 categories in business, technology, design, and more, including courses taught by native speakers in 12 languages. All courses are taught by world-class instructors and offer a tailor-made learning experience for those who want to learn new technologies and skills to stay competitive in a changing workforce.

Gale Presents Miss Humblebees Academy

Gale Presents: Miss Humblebee’s Academy is an award-winning online resource that gives kids ages 3–6 access to hundreds of guided lessons using videos, music, eBooks, hands-on activities, and more. It includes off-line lessons too. View weekly progress and performance reports to track improvement toward kindergarten readiness. It’s serious learning fun!

Tumblebook Library
Online children’s books are available through TumbleBook Library Using flash animation and read-along audio, these books are perfect for beginning and reluctant readers. You will need your library card number to log in to TumbleBook Library

TeenBookCloud offers a large selection of classic literature for AP English classes, graphic novels, enhanced books (with narration), and audiobooks that are geared towards middle school and high school-aged students. This free trial ends on June 30, 2024.

The Mesquite Public Library System is a member of the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium which gives our cardholders access to a broad collection of fiction and nonfiction titles in a downloadable format. You will need your library card number and PIN to check out titles.

Newstand eMagazines

Rocket Languages
Learn a foreign language with Rocket Languages. There are 15 languages to choose from, including ASL Sign Language. First time users will need to create an account with your library card number, name, email address and password so that you can track your progress. On following visits, login using email address and password.
Gale Legal Forms
Gale Legal Forms includes a wide selection of Texas legal forms. Also includes a directory of Texas attorneys and a dictionary of legal definitions explained in layman’s language. You will need your library card number and your PIN to log in.
TexShare Databases

TexShare Library of Texas is an extensive collection of databases which gives users the opportunity to access full-text articles in encyclopedias, almanacs, reference books, journals, newspapers, and electronic books. Databases include Gale Literature Resource Center, GalePresents: Udemy on-demand video courses, ChiltonLibrary, Ebsco’s MasterFile and Academic Search Complete, LearningExpress Library, and Heritage Quest Online. You need a password, which you may request from a reference librarian.
