Mesquite, TX – May 31, 2019 – A series of workshops for the small business owner or dreamer called “Entrepreneurship to the Fourth Power” will begin June 18 with a session on business planning. The series is offered by the Mesquite Business Retention and Expansion partnership (BRE) in conjunction with the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Dallas Metropolitan Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
The Mesquite BRE is a task force of the City of Mesquite, Mesquite Independent School District, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Eastfield College and Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas that works to connect commerce and community for economic growth in Mesquite.
“There is a strong spirit of entrepreneurship in Mesquite and these workshops will provide information and tools to support business success,” said Director of Economic Development for the City of Mesquite, David Witcher. “Our City Council has stated small business retention and job creation as primary goals for the City.”
The workshop dates and subjects are:
- June 18 - Planning for Success: basics on legal formation, accounting, writing a strong business plan and where to find support
- July 23 - Money: Where it is and How to Get It, including sources for funding, requirements and application process along with an opportunity to apply for a $10,000 loan
- Aug. 27 - Marketing and Sales Strategies: social media know-how, basics for creating a website, and the 4P’s of Marketing
- Oct. 15 - Budgeting and Financials: using budgeting to achieve short-term and long-term goals, debt management and tracking
The cost for individual workshops is $10 each. Enrollment for the series of four is $35. Refreshments are included and all classes will be held at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave., on the second floor. Networking time will be from 4:30 to 5 p.m. followed by the workshops from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
