Mesquite hosts successful Recycles Day

employees collect electronic material for recyclingMesquite, TX – May 19, 2021 – More than 500 vehicles dropped off a variety of reusable items, electronic waste and other recycling materials at Mesquite Recycles Day on May 8. 

Mesquite Solid Waste collected 70 tires, 10 pallets and about 4,200 pounds of scrap metal. Residents also filled an entire 20-foot box truck and a large cargo van with donated household goods. There was also nearly 6,000 pounds of documents shredded at the event. Here is a full list of all the collected recycle material:

Solid Waste

  • Tires Collected = 70
  • E-Waste Collected = 10 Pallets
  • Scrap Metal = 4200 lbs.

Lion’s Club

  • Received 250 pairs of donated glasses

Friends of the Library

  • Received 25 boxes or about 800 books

For a Cause

  • Recycled 528 ink cartridges & toners

Inspired Vision Compassion Center

  • Filled an entire 20ft box truck and a large cargo van with donated household goods!

Data Shred

  • 6000 lbs. of household shredding

Presented by Keep Mesquite Beautiful and the City of Mesquite, the free event is held twice a year and provides Mesquite residents the opportunity to drop off a variety of recyclable material.
