On November 23 at 2:30 p.m. the Mesquite Police Department received a call from a homeowner in the 900 block of Micarta Drive advising of a burglary of his storage building which had just occurred. The homeowner stated he heard his alarm activate, so he went outside to investigate. As he exited his garage he saw two white males and a white female carrying items which they had removed from his storage building. The suspects saw the homeowner and they entered a pickup truck and began to leave the location. The homeowner, who is a Dallas ISD police officer, identified himself and told the suspects not to leave. The driver of the pickup truck put the truck in gear and accelerated toward the homeowner, who jumped out of the way of the pickup and then fired several bullets into the passenger door area. The pickup was last seen leaving the area. The homeowner suffered only minor injury.
