Mesquite, TX – March 19, 2021 – On March 19, Mesquite Mayor Bruce Archer honored Sergeant Jason Taylor for more than three decades of service as a Mesquite Police Department - Texas officer.

WHEREAS, we are here today to express our appreciation to Sergeant Jason Taylor and to honor him for his distinguished 30-year career with the City of Mesquite; and
WHEREAS, Jason began his career with the Mesquite Police Department on October 5, 1990, as a police officer then promoted to police sergeant on April 17, 2000, and has worked under five police chiefs, three city managers and six mayors; and
WHEREAS, when Jason began his career in 1990, the City of Mesquite had a population of 101,484 compared to 145,410 today. The number of commissioned police officers has grown from 159 in 1990 to 243 today; and
WHEREAS, during his career with the Mesquite Police Department, Jason trained new recruits through the Field Training Officer Program and represented the Mesquite Police Department proudly through the Mesquite Police Honor Guard; and
WHEREAS, Jason received many citizen commendations and City awards including Elks Lodge Officer of the Year, Perfect Attendance, Employee of the Quarter, Twenty-five-year Safe Driving, Firearms Proficiency and Mesquite Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Officer of the Month; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the entire City Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Jason for his loyalty to the City of Mesquite over the past 30 years and wish him much happiness as he begins this new chapter in his life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim Friday, March 19, 2021, as:
Jason Taylor Day
in the City of Mesquite, and urge all citizens and employees to join me and the City Council in congratulating Jason on an outstanding career with the City of Mesquite and wishing him many years of happiness and good health.
