Mesquite, TX – August 20, 2021 – Adopt the “pawfect” furry friend at the Mesquite Animal Shelter during the month long Clear the Shelters event from Aug. 23 to Sept. 19. Clear the Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign where animal shelters find loving homes for pets in need. The Mesquite Animal Shelter will have weekly adoption promotions leading up to the final Clear the Shelters week which will offer FREE adoptions.
All adoptions from the Mesquite Animal Shelter, 1650 Gross Road, include a spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, DHPP and Bordetella for dogs and FVRCP for cats, deworming and a microchip. To see available pets, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/PetAdoption.

Mesquite Animal Services continues to ensure public safety and increase live outcomes to reach the goals set in the Animal Services Strategic Plan for 2020 – 2025.
From April through June, Mesquite Animal Services achieved a 90% “Save Rate,” which they have maintained for more than a year. This includes all animals that enter the shelter and leave for a new home. The shelter intake surpassed the number of animals that came into the shelter during the same period last year by eight hundred. Mesquite Animal Services took in more than 2,000 animals. There were 553 adoptions, 687 rescues and transfers and 256 animals were reclaimed by their owners.
