Mesquite, TX – November 28, 2018 – Downtown Mesquite is creating new excitement, is getting new infrastructure and now, has a new logo. The new Downtown Mesquite logo was revealed Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the City of Mesquite’s annual Christmas on the Square event.
“The reveal of the new logo signifies a new era for our downtown area,” said Beverly Abell, City of Mesquite Downtown Development Manager. Abell explained, “The logo is reminiscent of a downtown diner in the 1950s, one of the most active decades in Downtown Mesquite’s history, yet the look is also sleek and forward-moving, signifying the progress we are making in the revitalization of our downtown area.”
Amidst the holiday music and visits with Santa Claus, event attendees were among the first to see the new logo. Adding to the celebration, ornaments inscribed with the new logo were presented as gifts to those in attendance following the Christmas tree lighting.
Mesquite was recently designated a Texas Main Street community, an elite group of fewer than 100 Texas communities. Texas Main Street communities receive free expert training, architectural services, business development training and more from the Texas Main Street Program, which is part of the Texas Historical Commission. Downtown revitalization is one of the City Council’s priorities.
