Mesquite, TX – January 7, 2019 – Mesquite Code Ambassadors is a volunteer-based program created to assist code enforcement officers with specific code violations. The program enlists the help of resident volunteers – Mesquite Code Ambassadors – to identify code violations throughout the community.
The next Code Ambassadors orientation takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31. Classes will follow beginning Thursday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. The orientation and all classes will take place in the Mesquite Arts Center Rehearsal Hall, 1527 N. Galloway Ave.
Volunteers must undergo background checks and commit to six hours per month of volunteer time before participating in the program. Multiple training classes and mandatory ride-outs with code enforcement officer also are required. Once trained, Code Ambassadors will survey assigned neighborhoods for code violations viewable from the right-of-way. Volunteers will survey using vehicles provided by the City. Volunteers are unauthorized to survey neighborhoods where they reside.
