Mesquite, TX – May 18, 2022 – At the May 16 City Council meeting, Mayor Daniel Aléman proclaimed May 15-21, 2022 as National Public Works Week in the City of Mesquite. In honor of the special week, the City released the "Ready and Resilient" video.

WHEREAS, public works are vitally important to the health, safety; and well-being of the citizens of Mesquite; and
WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is necessary for the efficient operations of public works systems; and
WHEREAS, these services are provided through dedicated public works professionals who build; plan and operate the transportation, utility, equipment, solid waste facilities; and
WHEREAS, National Public Works Week is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel Alemán, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim the week of May 15-21, 2022, as:
National Public Works Week
in the City of Mesquite, and call upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing our public works and to recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
