Mesquite, TX - October 9, 2018 - The Mesquite community continually demonstrates its care for others in the city. Galloway Elementary School hosted its #GallowayGives campaign this week. The program seeks donations of food and clothing for those in need. Despite having a student population that receives free or reduced lunch, the school’s students and their parents responded to the donation campaign.
Mayor Stan Pickett helped with the donation program by attending to help accept donated food and canned goods as students arrived to school. All donations benefit Sharing Life Community Outreach.
The donation program continued throughout the week with Galloway students bringing new socks and undergarments. The #GallowayGives campaign ended with students bringing in gently used coats for the winter season.
Mayor Pickett said, “I am grateful for the compassion and care shown by these students. It is remarkable to see this school, the administrators, the students and their parents give to those in need within the Mesquite community. It’s another example of why Mesquite is such great place to live, as we have neighbors who truly care about each other.”
