Mayor and student thumbs upMesquite, TX – August 11, 2021 – On Aug. 11, police officers and firefighters helped welcome Mesquite ISD students to their first day of school. Mayor Bruce Archer and Councilmen Dan Aleman, B.W. Smith and Kenny Green also welcomed students at schools in their districts, wishing them a good school year.

During the first few weeks of school, the City is reminding everyone to pay attention, watch for children, stop for school buses and Drive Like Your Family Lives Here. The Mesquite Fire and Police Departments have been big supporters of the annual campaign. This year, fire engines were parked near a few schools on the first day and displayed “Please Slow Down, School Back In Session” banners with its firefighters. Good luck to all students on the first day of school and have a wonderful school year.
