Mesquite, TX – March 26, 2021 – On March 26, Councilmember Tandy Boroughs, District 4 honored Assistant Police Chief Robert Piccioni who is retiring after almost 40 years serving and protecting the Mesquite community. Councilmember Boroughs, on behalf of Mayor Bruce Archer and the City Council, declared March 26 Assistant Police Chief Robert Louis Piccioni Day.

WHEREAS, we are here today to pay honor to and celebrate the career of Assistant Police Chief Robert L. Piccioni; and
WHEREAS, Robert joined the Mesquite Police Department on September 21, 1983, and since that time has served as Police Officer, Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Police Captain, Assistant Police Chief and in 2016 served as Interim Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, Robert spent nearly 38 years protecting the citizens of Mesquite and serving his community upholding the peace and enforcing the law; and
WHEREAS, Robert worked in Patrol as an Officer, Sergeant and Watch Commander. As a crime scene investigator, Robert played a major role in the investigation of homicides, robberies, auto theft cases, kidnappings, assaults and property crimes, bringing them to their proper resolution; and
WHEREAS, Robert graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police – Executive Strategic Management at Boston University and numerous other distinguished training programs; and
WHEREAS, during his career, Robert commanded the Criminal Investigations Division and the Operations Bureau in the relentless pursuit and prosecution of criminals involved in offenses ranging from violent crimes to property crimes. He also commanded the Staff Support and Technical Services Bureaus ensuring the selection of quality personnel, training of sworn personnel along with overseeing the upgrades and transition of equipment used by police personnel in the building and in the field; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the entire City Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Robert for his dedication to the City of Mesquite and wish him much happiness as he begins this new chapter in his life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim Friday, March 26, 2021 as:

in the City of Mesquite and urge all citizens and City employees to join me in congratulating Robert for the meritorious service, loyalty and dedication he has rendered to this community. We wish him many years of happiness and good health.
