Mesquite, TX – October 1, 2020 – On Oct. 1, Mesquite Mayor Bruce Archer presented a special proclamation to the Hispanic Form of Mesquite and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Mesquite in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
Here is the proclamation that was presented:
WHEREAS, the United States is strengthened by the many cultures and people that live in America and contribute greatly to society, economy and way of life; and
WHEREAS, during National Hispanic Heritage Month we recognize the contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States and celebrate their culture and heritage; and
WHEREAS, together we recognize the Latino community in the City of Mesquite, whose love of family, strong work ethic, community and military service, and willingness to share their heritage and traditions have made our city a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, nationally, September 15 to October 15 is the focal point for recognizing and celebrating the many achievements and contributions of Latino Americans and applauding their proud legacy of service and dedication to this city; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim September 15 to October 15, 2020, as:
Hispanic Heritage Month
in the City of Mesquite and encourage citizens to recognize the significant contributions of Hispanics in our city and state.
