Mesquite, TX – July 22, 2021 – Dogs and their owners are invited to splash and play at the 17th annual Doggie Splash Day on Saturday, Aug. 7. The event will be from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Vanston Pool, 2913 Oates Drive. Admission is $5 for one owner and one pet, $2 for each additional pet and $1 for all spectators. Participants who bring a jar of peanut butter or jelly to support the Spread the Love campaign will receive $2 off admission. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/DoggieSplashDay to learn more.
Swimmers will have access to the wading pool and lap pool. Small dogs weighing up to 25 pounds and large dogs more than 25 pounds in weight can compete for prizes in the pet swimsuit contest, diving contest, doggie paddle race and a pet and owner look-a-like contest.
The Mesquite Animal Shelter will also be at Doggie Splash Day with dogs who are available for adoption. They will also be offering free microchipping. Microchips are an easy way for your pet to be identified and returned home if they ever get lost.
All dogs will be required to show proof of current vaccinations and must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years and older. Owners with aggressive or socially challenged dogs may be asked to excuse themselves and their dogs from the event for the safety of all participants. Lifeguards will be on duty.
