Mesquite, TX – May 20, 2021 – On May 18, Councilmember B.W. Smith honored the staff at Dallas Regional Medical Center for their tireless work and for serving the community during the COVID pandemic.

WHEREAS, healthcare officials – to include all levels of staffing at each hospital, every healthcare center and every emergency medical response team in our community – have proven during the COVID-19 health pandemic to be more than just essential workers but frontline heroes; and
WHEREAS, the responsibility, dedication and fortitude of these devoted individuals to continue administering services in the face of danger and uncertainty serves as an absolute inspiration to all; and
WHEREAS, the unified vision to protect life is realized at every sector within these organizations – from the housekeeping, janitorial and support staff to the ICU nurses, doctors and respiratory therapists. The commitment of such heroes shines brightly even as dark days have been seen; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic showed the tireless dedication and selflessness of hospital staff, and truly earned them the title of “essential workers”; and
WHEREAS, one year after the COVID-19 pandemic began, nurses and medical staff at Dallas Regional Medical Center continue to serve on the frontlines in the fight against the virus and believe their efforts should be commended and recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, May 18, 2021, as:
West Coast University Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Day
in the City of Mesquite and encourage citizens to recognize the staff at Dallas Regional Medical Center who have served the Mesquite community during the COVID-19 pandemic and extend them our heartfelt gratitude for their service to our community.
