Mesquite, Texas – January 17, 2019 – The City of Mesquite Engineering Department has opened a public comment period for a new Engineering Design Manual. The proposed manual is a major change in our current organization of design and construction policies. The public comment period ends Feb. 15.
The proposed manual is designed with the following goals in mind:
- Provide a user-friendly set of standards to govern infrastructure and land development
- Increase clarification of existing design and construction policies, standards and criteria
- Address design and construction policies not currently covered; include new standards and materials
- Improve the function and service life of public infrastructure
The draft manual includes eight main sections and seven appendices to provide comprehensive guidance on designing and constructing infrastructure within Mesquite.
All comments and responses will be evaluated and posted to the City website by March 15. City staff will brief the City Council on the proposed manual during the March 4 Regular Meeting, and plan to formally adopt the manual at the April 15 Meeting.
