Mesquite, TX – July 30, 2021 – Mayor Bruce Archer honored police officer Alexander Kalota on July 30, proclaiming July 31 as Alexander Kalota Day for his service to Mesquite an for serving the community as a police officer for 38 years.
Here is the proclamation:
WHEREAS, Alexander R. Kalota has bravely served for the public as a military veteran and public servant;
WHEREAS, Al protected our country’s freedoms by his service in the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, Al has protected our community for 38 years as a police officer in the Mesquite Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Al currently is a patrol Officer in the Operations Bureau, he has also had assignments as a Field Training Officer and a Burglary/Theft Investigator; and
WHEREAS, Al was named the Field Training Officer of the Year in 2017, earned the prestigious Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Civic Achievement Award, received 2 Life Saving Awards, the Safe Driving Award for 5 years, the Perfect Attendance Award, the Firearms Pistol Master 17 times and has amassed an amazing 89 commendations during his phenomenal career; and
WHEREAS, Al is married to Lesa and has 2 stepsons Cameron and Sterling, and plans to enjoy his retirement that begins July 31st by traveling, spending time with family and friends, and studying history.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bruce Archer, Mayor of the City of Mesquite, do hereby proclaim July 31, 2021, as:
Alexander R. Kalota Day
in the City of Mesquite and urge Mesquite citizens to thank Al for his extraordinary service to his country and this community
