The City's 2017-2018 fiscal year tax rate is $.687 per $100 assessed valuation. A sewer bill is calculated on actual usage subject to a maximum consumption level. The City has adopted sewer rates to recover the cost of providing sewer service to its customers. A $15.15 base amount is charged to all customers and includes 1,000 gallons of water. All consumption in excess of 1,000 gallons, up to a maximum of 8,000 gallons, is charged at a rate of $5.95 per 1,000 gallons.

No registration is required for medical alarms. The City of Mesquite does require that fire alarms in commercial buildings be registered. This includes all buildings except single-family residential dwellings. A nonrefundable permit fee of $50.00 per alarm site with one fire alarm control unit is required for the issuance of a permit. If an alarm site has multiple fire alarm control units, a nonrefundable fee of $50.00 for the first alarm control unit and $10.00 for each additional fire alarm control unit is required. A permit is issued for one year and must be renewed annually by payment of the required fee. A new fee and permit is required upon a change in ownership or change in occupancy of the property. A new owner or occupant of a building with a fire alarm is required to obtain a new permit. This includes both fire alarms that are monitored and fire alarms that only sound on the premises. Owners of fire alarms in commercial buildings are also required to have their alarm systems inspected by a fire alarm technician once each year, and records of the inspection, testing and maintenance shall be maintained at the fire alarm site and available for inspection with the consent of the permit holder or other authorized representative. The owners of all fire alarms, both registered commercial and non-registered residential, are subject to fines for excessive false alarms or for failure to properly maintain a fire alarm system. Yes, a permit can be phased. A phasing plan must be submitted to the Fire Marshal’s Office during the online permitting process.
Once a permit is issued to the applicant through our online permitting process, the permit holder can log on to the Citizen Access Portal and schedule the system test. All fire protection systems shall be pretested before an inspection is scheduled.

If your child is between 14 and 17 years old, he can apply for a card on his own; he will need to show a photo ID (such as a school ID or recreation center ID card) and something with his name and current address, such as a recent report card. If you want him to be able to use the library’s public Internet computers, you will need to sign the permission line on his library card application.
If your child is between 14 and 17 years old, he may log into one the library’s public Internet computers using his own numbers only if you have signed his library card application giving him permission.
The guest pass may also be used by non-library card holders who do not have the proof of address needed to obtain a library card.
If your allotted time has run out, the computer will log you off even if you have locked it, so stay aware of the clock and how much time remains in your session.
If the computer is reserved, then you may still be able to sign on but your session will be less than sixty (60) minutes. Move the mouse or press any button to bring up the login screen and enter your library card and PIN numbers. You will get a message telling you how long your session will be. At this point you have the option whether or not to use the computer.
If there is less than ten (10) minutes before the next reservation, you will get a message that the computer can not be used.

The computers have a special piece of software that cleans off items saved to the hard drive. This cleaning cycle runs every night after the library has closed, so anything saved to the hard drive today will be gone tomorrow.

Acceptable Proof of Current Address in Your Name
To renew online, go to the Mesquite Public Library’s online catalog and click on My Account. On the My Account page, click on Renew My Materials. You will need to enter your library card number and PIN and click on the button List Charged Items. Select which items you wish to renew and click on Renew Selected Items button at the bottom of the list.
When you renew materials online, the items will be renewed for 3 weeks from the date that you renew them, not 3 weeks from the original due date. (Or, in the case of DVDs and Video Cassettes, 1 week from the date that you renew them.)
If another patron has placed a hold on an item you have checked out, you will not be able to renew it. Items that are already overdue cannot be renewed online but can be renewed in person. If you have fee totaling $5 or more you will not be able to renew your items.
The Mesquite Veterans Memorial is a community-wide effort led by the City of Mesquite to build a new Veterans Memorial in Mesquite, Texas. The current Veterans Memorial, established in 1975, is at the flagpole in Heritage Square located in historic downtown Mesquite.
In 2010, an effort was started by a citizens group called Heroes of Mesquite to build a new place of reflection and education to recognize military veterans. It would be a destination to provide memory of the men and women of Mesquite who sacrificed their life in military service for our country, and in honor of those who have served. Through the diligent efforts of the Heroes of Mesquite, many community donations have been received since 2010. In 2017, a new community-wide campaign in partnership with the City of Mesquite is using the progress made by the Heroes of Mesquite to launch further public awareness and funding to design and build a new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. The campaign will seek donations from the general public, grant programs and corporate giving initiatives.
The design and construction of the Mesquite Veterans Memorial will be driven by public donations and corporate sponsorships. The location of the memorial will be at City Lake Park, 200 Parkview Street. The Mesquite City Council purchased property near the park as part of a master plan to connect the park to historic downtown Mesquite.

Bagged grass clippings and leaves or brush piles no larger than 2 feet wide by 2 feet high by 4 feet long and weighing no more than 50 lbs. are picked up.
Large brush is collected Monday – Friday, once weekly. Large brush items are picked up at front curbs. Please do not block sidewalks with your debris.
The Composting Facility is located at 3550 Lawson Road, south of Cartwright Road. The facility is open daily (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except Wednesdays, Sundays and holidays.
Acceptable Items: Trash, yard waste, fencing, furniture, lumber, appliances, automotive batteries, tires (limit 4). Small amounts of brick and concrete are also accepted.
Recyclable Items: Plastic containers, newspaper, magazines, telephone books, chipboard, cardboard, tin, steel, aluminum, glass, and all types of metal, and electronic waste (computers, monitors, televisions, etc.)
Unacceptable Items: Hazardous materials (pesticides, chemicals, solvents) paint, commercially generated waste, roofing materials, rocks, dirt, oil and other automotive fluids.

Recycling and Collection Times
There is no need to separate items. All recyclables may be placed together in the same bin or blue bag. It is not necessary to rinse or remove labels from jars or cans. However, remove all liquid from containers to prevent contamination.
Glass may not be placed in a blue bag, only in a recycling bin. On rainy days, protect your bin from getting wet or simply save it for the next collection day.
