Spending money in Mesquite for shopping and dining helps business owners as well as the local economy, as sales tax revenue makes up more than 20 percent of the City’s general fund. The general fund provides the financial resources for most City services for residents and their families. The largest portion of the general fund is public safety, which includes the Mesquite Police Department, Mesquite Fire Department and 911 Dispatch.
The general fund also supports Mesquite Animal Services, the Parks and Recreation Department, and a variety of quality-of-life programs. Learn more about Mesquite’s array of shopping options at www.ShopMesquiteTX.com.
