Starting on Nov. 1, the City of Mesquite will charge a fee to use its electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
The fee will be 30 cents per kWh, which is 20 cents less than average in the state of Texas, according to a 2024 report by Stable Auto.
The City has been offering free charging for 14 months as part of a federal grant that provided funding for installing electric vehicle charging stations for public facilities. The grant from the Texas Department of Transportation is part of the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program that covered the cost of purchasing and installing three dual-port Level II EV chargers.
Mesquite’s EV charging stations locations:
- Mesquite Municipal Center, 1515 N. Galloway Ave. – Two EV chargers with the capacity to charge four vehicles
- Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. – One EV charger with the capacity to charge two vehicles
