Crews have collected 1,500 tons of brush this past week for a total of more than 8,500 tons of storm debris in the past seven weeks. We anticipate completion of the first sweep by the end of this week.
The second sweep will begin July 15 and will go from north to south to collect both storm debris and bulk items.
It is our hope that residential trash collection will return to normal in early August. Until normal operations resume, Solid Waste will not be accepting special requests for pick ups.
Please help us speed up the process by:
- Separating bulk trash and other materials from the brush
- Making sure vehicles are not blocking brush piles
- Monitoring any brush piles so that they do not block the street
- Remembering you can take vegetative debris and bulk items to the City’s Convenience Center, located at 3550 Lawson Road.
For more information on how to properly separate debris, please see the graphic with this post or visit www.cityofmesquite.com/SeparatingDebris.
Our crews have worked tirelessly to meet our cleanup goals. They have collected more brush and debris in seven weeks than they would have in an entire summer.
Thank you for the continued support in this recovery effort.
