Employees honored during National Public Works Week

Mesquite, TX – May 21, 2021 – Public Works employees provide vital services to the Mesquite community every day. For National Public Works Week, May 16 – 22, the City provided Public Works employees with lunch and recognized the Public Works Department for their hard work that keeps the city running.

The Public Works Department maintains:

  • 609 miles of water main
  • 488 miles of sanitary sewer
  • 518 centerline miles of roadway
  • 217 miles of alleys
  • 215 miles of storm sewer
  • 130 miles of drainage channels

Seven employees were also honored for going above and beyond and received the 2021 Employee of the Year Awards. The following employees were recognized:

  • Streets: Chris Benedetto- Employee of the Year
  • Utilities: Jason Dimmitt – Employee of the Year
  • Solid Waste: Rocky King - Employee of the Year
  • Equipment Services: Kenneth Belcher - Employee of the Year
  • Traffic: Kevin Lynch – Employee of the Year
  • Engineering: Luciana Edwards – Employee of the Year
  • GIS: Curtis Tracy - Employee of the Year
