The City of Mesquite is urging residents to commemorate Independence Day by celebrating safely this 4th of July weekend.
Driving while intoxicated (DWI) is costly in many ways. Besides causing injuries and loss of life, DWI can result in thousands of dollars in fines, jail time and driver’s licenses being revoked.
Public safety officials also remind residents that it is illegal to possess or use fireworks in the City of Mesquite, and it is illegal to discharge firearms into the air, with penalties ranging from fines to incarceration.
The Mesquite Police and Fire Departments will have increased patrols in place to address the anticipated rise in service calls during the holiday period.
Residents are encouraged to assist by reporting fireworks violations through any of the following methods:
- Submitting a report via the myMesquite app
- Completing an online police report at www.cityofmesquite.com/PoliceReport
- Calling non-emergency dispatch at 972-204-4888
- Sending an email to fireworks@mesquitepolice.org.
For gunfire or suspected DWI activity, please call 911. To report an offense, an address must be given for enforcement. Due to the volume of calls received, response times will vary.
