Shop Mesquite this holiday season

Home Posted on November 01, 2024 | Last Updated on December 26, 2024

The City of Mesquite is encouraging citizens to shop local for this year’s holiday shopping season.

For many shoppers, Thanksgiving holiday weekend kicks off holiday gift-buying season. Downtown Mesquite will host a Small Business Saturday shopping event on Nov. 30.

Participating small businesses in Mesquite’s historic downtown area will be designated with special Small Business Saturday signage. The event coincides with the final Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market of the 2024 season, which will include gift items from local vendors. Visit the Front Street Station, 100 W. Front St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spending money in Mesquite for shopping and dining helps business owners as well as the local economy, as sales tax revenue makes up approximately 28% percent of the City’s general fund.

The general fund provides the financial resources for most City services for residents and their families. The largest portion of the general fund is public safety, which includes the Mesquite Police Department, Mesquite Fire Department and 911 Dispatch.

The general fund also supports Mesquite Animal Services, the Parks and Recreation Department, and a variety of quality-of-life programs.

Spend more time shopping and less time sitting in traffic. At www.cityofmesquite.com/ShoppingRoutes, the City has provided alternate driving directions for key retail destinations in Mesquite, such as Town East Mall, Market East and MarketPlace at Towne Centre.
