8th annual Día de los Muertos Celebration

Celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage with the Mesquite Arts Council’s 8th annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 26.

 

This free, family-friendly Day of the Dead festival will be held from 3-6 p.m. inside the building and on the grounds of the Mesquite Arts Center and will feature cultural arts workshops, music, dancing, theatrical performances, food trucks and vendors.

 

Participate in a variety of free arts workshops including silk-screening with Durty Laundry Clothing, Día de los Muertos crown-making with Poppy Xander, decorating authentic sugar skulls with Maggie Wolters, hat making with Rad Hatter, Latin crafts with Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, painting workshops with Cara Mia Theatre, and organic abstracts with artist Patricia Rodriguez.

 

The festival also will feature live music by Latin Lara and DJ Storm; dance performances by Grupo Folklorico Mexico Lindo and A Dance to Remember studio; and performances by Cara Mia Theatre and their mojigangas (large puppets).

 

Patrons also can shop with more than a dozen vendors in the “Hecho con Amor” market, and a variety of food trucks and concessions will be available for purchase.
