Mesquite City Councilmembers Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross and Brandon Murden were recognized as Leadership Fellows by the Texas Municipal League on May 17.
Rodriguez-Ross, who represents District 3, and Murden, who represents District 6, completed the Texas Municipal League’s Leadership Academy, which was comprised of more than 30 hours of training over a two-month period.
Leadership fellows completed coursework on principles and characteristics of ethical leadership, building trust and community, improving teams building and communications skills, and negotiation for strategic influences. Participants discussed local issues in a broader leadership context with the goal of applying their knowledge to their public service roles for the benefit of their cities and residents.
The Texas Municipal League, an Austin-based nonprofit, provides legal guidance, legislative advocacy, publications, training, and networking opportunities for officials from more than 1,174 cities in Texas.
