Home Posted on June 17, 2021

Mesquite, TX – June 17, 2021 – An organization is only as good as the people that work in it and the Mesquite Police Department (MPD) is no exception. Two Mesquite police officers and a dispatcher recently went above and beyond to help a mother who had just delivered her baby at home.

Officer Welch and Officer Pecena helped a local resident after her baby was delivered at home unexpectedly. The resident called 9-1-1 and Dispatcher B.J. Phillips walked the mom through the delivery steps. When Officer Welch and Officer Pecena arrived, they wrapped the newborn in a towel and comforted the new mom until paramedics arrived.

The City and the Mesquite Police Department would like to recognize these officers and the 9-1-1 Dispatcher for helping the mom and the newborn.
