Activities & Storytimes
There are programs for children throughout the year. Check the Calendar of Events for specific dates, times and locations.

Storytimes are held year round at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. The Spring and Fall sessions of storytime span a 14-week period. During the summer, storytime covers an 8-week period. There are different storytime programs aimed at the different ages and developmental stages of young children:

  • Young and the Restless Storytime is for children 1 to 2 years old
  • Toddler Storytime is recommended for children 2 to 3 years old
  • Preschool Storytime is recommended for children 3 to 5 years old
Children's Resources
The Children’s Librarians can provide library tours or programs for groups, day cares or schools. Contact them at 972-216-6226 (Mesquite Main Library) or 972-681-0465 (Mesquite North Branch Library.)

The online resource TexShare Library of Texas has some databases specifically aimed at children, including EBSCO Kids Search and Searchasaurus. These are available in the library or from your home computer. You will need a log in and password to access this site. Ask the Children’s Librarian for more details.

Both libraries have a computer set up for children 12 years of age and under. Ask the Children’s Librarian for more details.

Children’s Computers
There are computers loaded with children’s games available at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. These computers do not have Internet access, Microsoft Office, or printing capabilities. They do have a variety of educational games designed for children from preschool through sixth grade. Ask at the Children’s information desk for assistance in using these stations.
