Activities & Storytimes
The Mesquite Public Library provides various programs for children. Check the Calendar of Events for specific dates, times and locations.
Storytimes are held at both the Mesquite Main Library and the Mesquite North Branch Library. Families with preschool-age children are welcome to attend. Young children love to engage with the stories, songs, and other activities. The Main Library storytimes are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. The North Branch Library storytime is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
Both libraries have monthly Lego® Clubs. The Main Library Lego Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. The North Branch Library Lego Club meets on the first Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m.
Children's Resources
The Children’s Librarians can provide library tours or programs for groups, day cares or schools. Contact them at 972-216-6226 (Mesquite Main Library) or 972-681-0465 (Mesquite North Branch Library.)The online resource TexShare Library of Texas has some databases specifically aimed at children, including Explora-Elementary and EBSCO Primary Search. These are available in the library or from your home computer. You will need a log in and password to access this site. Ask the Children’s Librarian for more details.
The Mesquite Public Library also offers TumbleBookLibrary, a curated database of ebooks for elementary age children. It provides easy access to many new titles, read along books, and graphic novels for children.
Gale Presents: Miss Humblebee's Academy, an interactive, online preschool curriculum, is free through the Mesquite Public Library. It fosters early literacy skills in children ages 3 to 6 - setting them up for success in kindergarten and beyond.
