Park and Recreation Month

Since 1985, the United States has celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation.

The services that park and recreation professionals provide are vital for our communities — from protecting open spaces and natural resources to helping fight health conditions and providing activities and resources for all people. Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value park and recreation professionals bring to communities.

Mesquite Parks and Recreation will host a special event during the month of July to celebrate Park and Recreation month:

Pop Up at the Clay Mathis Park Spray Zone - Friday, July 12

Visit Mesquite's Spray Zone at Clay Mathis Park, 2181 Clay Mathis Rd., at 10 a.m. for a morning of family fun featuring outdoor games, bubbles, music, free popsicles. A spray zone is an interactive playground with various water features such as nozzles that spray water upward from a deck and whimsical shower-style features.
