Independent reports validate Mesquite's residential road repair process

Two independent architectural and engineering consulting firms have confirmed that the process used in the City of Mesquite's residential road repair program (Real. Texas. Roads.) is successful and cost-effective, and the City should continue the process with various modifications. The firms offered recommendations for increased success rates, such as using full depth repair for streets with commercial traffic, new procedures to allow more curing time of concrete as well as extra steps in applying the concrete and reinforcement materials. Doggie Splash Day to be held on August 11

Mesquite Parks & Recreation invites dogs and their owners to Doggie Splash Day from 9 a.m. - noon on Saturday, August 11, at Vanston Pool, 2913 Oates Drive. Contests will include a pet swimsuit contest, diving contest and a pet and owner look-alike contest. Admission is $5 for one owner and one pet, $2 for each additional pet, and $1 for spectators. Receive $2 off admission by donating a jar of peanut butter or jelly to the Spread the Love campaign. Proof of current dog vaccinations is required. Back the Blue Ice Cream Social to be held on August 15

Monthly sales tax report

The State Comptroller’s Office reported a 0.3 percent decrease in the City’s sales tax collections for the month of August compared to the same period last year. August’s report is based on sales reported by local businesses during the month of June. Year-to-date collections continue to remain relatively flat with an overall increase of almost one percent. Mesquite City Manager receives Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA

Mesquite City Manager Cliff Keheley received the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
