  2. Michelle Richardson: Developing Story Exhibition 10.1.2019 - 12.29.2019

    We are honored to welcome the "Developing Story" of Michelle Richardson's exhibition this Fall. Exhibition will be on display from October 1- December 29. The exhibition revolves from the tradition of gathering around the radio, television or other devices during historic moments has carried on from generation to generation. Inspired by current events, this exhibition references mass communication and the implications of the 24-hr news cycle with a series of screens that act in totality as both painting and silent time-based media. Please join us on December 7th from 6-8 PM for sips and bites a viewing of Michelle Richardson's artwork in Mesquite Arts Center Main Gallery. This is a FREE event.   2. KidsQuest Playground Opening Celebration

    November 23, 2019, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

    KidsQuest Playground, located at Debusk Park, reopens with a celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. From 10 to 11:30 a.m., volunteers are invited to assist with installing personalized pickets and completing the landscaping. The opening ceremony begins at noon followed by a free lunch beginning at 12:30 p.m. Festivities conclude at 2 p.m. and the playground will officially open for play. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 972-216-6260. Public input received during the planning stages for the new playground conveyed the importance of including the history and legacy of the original playground into the next generation. This request was honored by incorporating personalized fence pickets into the new design. These personalized pickets will be available for purchase at the opening event for $25 each. And for those who had a personalized fence picket installed during the original construction, pickets will be available for pickup during the celebration.

  1. Preschool Storytime

    November 19, 2019, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Both Mesquite Main and North Branch Library

    There is a mix of songs, rhymes, finger plays, and books. However, there is a greater emphasis on books, on longer stories with more challenging content, and on independent participation by the kids. Children will be introduced to group participation, and caregivers will learn some songs and rhymes to share with their children at home. This program is an opportunity for children to mature socially and developmentally in preparation for school. Sounds, letter recognition, and new words that will help them grow into pre-readers all while having fun. Program length: approx. 30 minutes.
