Housing Rehabilitation Program

Program Overview


The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation program is a home repair program that benefits low-to-moderate income, Mesquite residents with interior, exterior or emergency repairs. It is grant funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is administered by the City of Mesquite Housing and Community Services Department. 


Major Housing Rehabilitation Program

The program is designed to assist homeowners in Mesquite, that qualify as low-to-moderate income, with up to a $35,000 grant to address various interior and/or exterior repairs that make the dwelling unsafe, unsanitary or in need of renewal/replacement as determined by staff. Assistance is dependent upon funding.

For program eligibility requirements or to complete an application to be placed on the waiting list, click here. Please note: the wait time is approximately 3-4 years, dependent on funding.

Note: The Housing rehabilitation program does not address foundation repairs or repairs for any other issue(s) caused by the foundation instability.  


Emergency Repair Program

The City of Mesquite also has an Emergency Repair Program for items that pose an imminent threat to the health and/or safety of the Homeowner and the surrounding neighborhood. See page for details.  Assistance is dependent upon funding.
