City offices closed Memorial Day


City of Mesquite offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Collection will occur on residents' next scheduled collection day. For information on all service impacts, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/Holidays.



Quarterly Reports

City of Mesquite Finance and Police Departments give quarterly reports


The City of Mesquite Finance and Police Departments each gave their quarterly report during the May 21 City Council meeting. Finance Director Debbie Mol noted  property tax and sales tax revenue are both on track with budget forecasts. Police Chief Charles Cato reported an increase in arrests, higher recruitment numbers and successful use of data and analytics to address crime. Brickyard Cemetery Memorial

Brickyard Cemetery Memorial event to be held on May 31 


The City of Mesquite will host a memorial dedication ceremony for the historic Brickyard Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, near the intersection of N. Peachtree Road and Clary Drive. The cemetery was designated a State Historical Cemetery in 2002 by the Texas Historical Commission and is the final resting place for more than 80 African Americans. Road Closure

North Peachtree Road closure
May 29 - May 31 for Brickyard Cemetery memorial event


All northbound lanes of Peachtree Road will be closed north of the Walmart Neighborhood Market, 1951 Military Parkway, to north of Clary Drive from May 29 - May 31 in conjunction with the historic Brickyard Cemetery Memorial Dedication. Traffic will be rerouted to the southbound lanes of Peachtree Road, which will temporarily serve motorists traveling both north and south.


QuikTrip donates to Veterans Memorial

QuikTrip donates to Mesquite Veterans Memorial


On May 17, the QuikTrip Corporation donated $5,000 towards the community campaign to build a Veterans Memorial in Mesquite. The campaign is raising public awareness and funding for a new memorial for military veterans and their families. Summer Sizzle 2018

Beat the heat at Mesquite's Summer Sizzle festival on June 9


Beat the heat at Summer Sizzle from noon - 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road. Summer Sizzle is a family-friendly event to kick off the summer featuring live music, a Kids’ Activity Zone, an area for Texas-sized yard games, a mud volleyball tournament and more. A spectacular fireworks show set to music will end the day’s festivities. Event admission and parking is free. However, some activities will have a fee. Parking will be available at Travis Williams Softball Complex, 1005 New Market Road. Additional parking will be available at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, 2411 Scyene Road, with free shuttle service. Addressing Mesquite Day 2018

Addressing Mesquite Day volunteer forms due June 29


Addressing Mesquite Day will take place on Saturday, October 6. This annual event matches community volunteers with disadvantaged homeowners in need of assistance. Those interested in volunteering should complete an online commitment form by June 29. Homeowners who would like to request assistance (exterior only) should submit an online Job Request Form by June 29. Both online forms are available at www.cityofmesquite.com/AMD. Job requests are only accepted for owner-occupied homes, and priority is given to seniors, residents with disabilities or veterans. Learn more at www.cityofmesquite.com/AMD.
