Forney Road Closed for Construction
The City of Mesquite Streets Division will be reconstructing Forney Road from South Parkway to Town East Blvd with an asphalt overlay, with a full road closure starting April 6. The project is expected to last 2 weeks, weather permitting.
South Walker Street
Construction on Walker Street began on January 12, 2026 and is now nearing completion, with the majority of travel lanes now open to traffic. The safety guardrail between Creekbend Drive and Braden Street has also been newly replaced. The project remains on track for full completion in Spring 2026.
Major Projects
South Walker Street, Tripp Road, and Mariposa Drive
Reconstruction of asphalt streets from South Walker Street (Davis to New Market Road), Tripp Road (Franklin Drive to US 80 Frontage Road), and Mariposa Drive (Franklin Drive to US 80). Improvements include reflective pavement markings and guardrail replacement.
Construction was completed on Mariposa Dr in December 2025 and on Tripp Rd in January 2026. Work on South Walker St from Davis to New Market Rd began January 12, 2026.
Lorraine Lane, Candise Court, and Ivy Drive (RTR)
Real.Texas.Roads Project - Includes new water and sewer utilities, concrete roads, and sidewalks for sections of Lorraine Lane, Candise Court, Ivy Drive, Mt. Vernon Drive, Fernwood Drive, Monticello Drive, and the Stoney Glen neighborhood.
Utility replacements complete. Paving complete on Lorraine Lane, Candise Court, Sybil Dr, Mt. Vernon, Fernwood Drive, and Monticello. Paving work complete in Stoney Glen neighborhood.
Sierra Drive, Wilkinson Drive, and Paza Drive (RTR)
Real.Texas.Roads Project - Construction includes new water and sewer utilities and reconstruction of asphalt streets on Sierra, Wilkinson, and Paza Drives.
Construction crews will replace water/sewer lines first, then reconstruct and repave asphalt streets.
Faithon P. Lucas Blvd
Existing two-lane asphalt road is being replaced with a new four-lane divided concrete road. The project includes new water and sewer utilities, a multi-use trail, a northbound and southbound bridge, and a new traffic signal at Jaguar Way. (McKenzie Rd to Cartwright Rd)
All lanes opened to normal traffic flow. Project is substantially complete pending final city inspections.

Forney Road
South Parkway to Town East Blvd
Asphalt overlay by Streets Division. Full road closure starting April 6, 2026 for 2 weeks, weather permitting.
Paza Drive
Reduced to one lane.
Road reduced to one lane to allow for street reconstruction. Signage and detours are posted as well.

South Parkway
(U.S 80 to Peachtree Rd) Reconstruction of South Parkway included new water and sewer utilities and full concrete reconstruction of a two-lane residential street. Completed November 2025.
Oates Dr.
(Gus Thomasson to Galloway) New asphalt paving, with sections of sidewalks and curbs repair with new concrete pavement. Completed April 2025.
Executive Way and Innovative Blvd
Industrial street reconstruction with heavy duty concrete section including water and sanitary sewer replacement under the pavement. Completed March 2025.
