By Mesquite City Code, residents are responsible for the repair of damaged sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveway approaches. As this type of maintenance can be costly, a 50/50 cost share program has been established to help defray citizen expenses.
For example, the cost of repairing one square of concrete (4’x4’) would cost $64. The citizen share would be $32, while the city would pay the remainder.
The 50/50 Cost Share program is only applicable if the City’s contractor performs the work. If homeowners wish to hire their own contractors or do the repairs, citizen must apply for permits before any work is started and such work would not be covered under the program.
The abutting property owner is required to make payment to the City in full amount of their share prior to commencement of reconstruction/repair or in 12 or 24 monthly installments; no interest is charged if payments are made according to schedule.
