City Council meets on September 6


Mesquite City Council meets September 6 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Face coverings are optional for attendees, but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. September 6 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216- 6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on September 6 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

Town Hall Tuesday

The City of Mesquite is hosting a town hall meeting on Tuesday, September 13, at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave in Training Rooms A & B, beginning at 7 p.m. to discuss emergency preparedness. Presentations will include tips, information and resources. Learn more here.

Remember Patriot Day on Sept. 11


The City of Mesquite will host a memorial to commemorate Patriot Day which is the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The public event will begin at 2 P.M. on September 11 at Mesquite Freedom Park located at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Avenue.

Labor Day holiday closure


City offices and facilities will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5, except for the Mesquite Metro Airport. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Collection will resume on resident’s next scheduled collection day. View a complete list of closures.

Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. to host Trash Bash on Sept. 24 


Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) will hold its volunteer cleanup event, Trash Bash, on Sept. 24. Trash Bash is an opportunity for families, neighbors and groups to get outside and help beautify the Mesquite community. Volunteers are asked to preregister here to help event organizers coordinate supplies and cleanup site locations.

Severe Weather Resources


As a result of the damage from the storm on Monday, August 22, the City will waive any fees for bulk trash placement for the next three weeks. Residents are encouraged to move any items for disposal to the curb and call Solid Waste at 972-216-6284 or 6285 or request the collection through the myMesquite App. Learn more at www.cityofmesquite.com/SevereWeatherResources
