City Council to meet Nov. 5


The Mesquite City Council Pre-Meeting will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in Training Rooms A and B at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Work Session will begin at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber, and the Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Meeting agendas are available online at cityofmesquite.com/CouncilAgenda. Meetings are broadcast live at cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings and via Facebook Live.


Veterans

Mesquite will host Veterans Day events on Nov. 10 and 11


The City invites the public to attend two Veterans Day events in the community. The Veterans Day Celebration is Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at City Lake Park, 403 S. Galloway Ave. The celebration features a complimentary picnic lunch provided by Mesquite Fire Corps and a musical performance by the Dallas Heritage Band. The Veterans Memorial Service is Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in Heritage Square in Downtown Mesquite. The traditional service features various presentations from local veterans groups.

This month on Community Focus, Mayor Stan Pickett discussed the great programs and services offered by Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. (KMB). KMB Executive Director Paige Swiney also discussed the upcoming Mesquite Recycles Day event on Nov. 10. The drive-through donation and recycling event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon in the front parking lot of Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive. It is free to Mesquite residents. Learn more about KMB and take their community survey by Nov. 9.

Get your flu shot at the Mesquite Public Health Clinic


Prepare for flu season by getting vaccinated at the Mesquite Public Health Clinic, 1616 N. Galloway Ave., while supplies last. Flu shots are available for $25 each. No appointment is needed. The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Clients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
