Early voting underway for Annual City Election and Special Charter Amendment Election

Early voting for the May 5, 2018, Annual City Election and Special Charter Amendment Election is underway and will continue through May 1. Early voting by personal appearance is being conducted at Lakeside Activity Center, 101 Holley Park Drive, and Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way, in Mesquite. Any qualified voter may vote early by personal appearance at the main early voting location or at any of the branch locations. The main early voting polling place is George L. Register to attend Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on May 3

The 15th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held from 7 – 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Family Cathedral, 790 Windbell Circle. The breakfast and service provide an opportunity for community leaders and residents to come together in fellowship and prayer for our city. At noon, a gathering will also be held at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. This brief service will offer another opportunity to pray for our community. Brickyard Cemetery artifacts encased in memorial dedication

This week, the first step in establishing a permanent memorial for the Brickyard Cemetery was completed with the encasement of artifacts found at the site. The artifacts were placed in a box and lowered into the base of the monument currently under construction. 2018 First Quarter Development Activity Report available online

The Development Activity Report for the first quarter of 2018 is now available online at www.cityofmesquite.com/DevelopmentHighlights. The report summarizes development activity from January through March 2018 and includes: projects in discussion and review, building permits issued, certificates of occupancy issued, business retention and economic updates.

Join Mesquite's Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5

The Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, in partnership with the Mesquite Parks & Recreation Department, will celebrate Cince de Mayo from noon – 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road. This family-friendly event will feature authentic Mexican food, a jalapeño eating contest, folklorico dancers, bounce houses and much more. Mesquite Recycles Day to be held
on May 12

Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. and the City of Mesquite will host the semi-annual Recycles Day event from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, May 12. This drive-through recycling and donation event will take place in the front parking lot of Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive.
