City Council to meet Oct. 6

The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on Oct. 6. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Oct. 6 to the City Secretary. Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

Upcoming District Meeting

Councilmembers Jeff Casper and Kenny Green will host a joint District 1 and 2 Meeting on Oct. 7 at Sharing Life Community Outreach's National Night Out Event at 3795 W. Emporium Circle. Register to vote by Oct. 6

Oct. 6 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming election. Early voting in Dallas and Kaufman County will be from Oct. 20-31, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4. Residents can visit the Dallas County and Kaufman County elections departments online for more information. Proposition A will be on the ballot for the City and there are several state propositions on the ballot as well. You can find voting times, locations, a tax rate calculator, and more at www.cityofmesquite.com/TaxRateElection.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

From Sept. 15-Oct. 15, the City of Mesquite is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events. Young children and families are invited to enjoy a special bilingual storytime at noon on Mondays through Oct. 13 at the North Branch Library. Celebrate first responders during Salute to Safety events

From Sept. 26-Oct. 9, the City will host Salute to Safety, a celebration of first responders in Mesquite. Police, Fire, and City staff will visit National Night Out events throughout the City on Oct. 7. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/NationalNightOut to see details and a list of locations. Road Report update: road and utility improvements

Construction has begun on Sierra Drive, Wilkinson Drive and Paza Drive as part of the Real. Texas. Roads. project. The work includes new water and sewer utility lines and the reconstruction of asphalt streets. On Miranda Drive, crews will also replace pavement, driveway aprons, and sidewalks. The project is expected to be complete by Spring 2026. For more updates on road work in Mesquite, click here.

"Misery" runs Oct. 10-17 at the Arts Center

The Mesquite Arts Theatre presents Stephen King's "Misery." When a famous author is rescued from a car crash by his "number one fan," things quickly take a twisted turn. The show runs on weekends Oct. 10-17 at the Mesquite Arts Center. Click here for tickets and details.
