The City of Mesquite is committed to open and transparent government.

Important Guidelines

Requests must be for existing documents or records; the City is not required to answer questions, create new records, or compile data. If your request is unclear, the City may ask for more details to ensure the right records are provided.

Exceptions to Disclosure

Some records are not available by law, including but not limited to:

  • Date of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license and license plate numbers
  • Personal Email addresses
  • Insurance policy numbers
  • Credit card details
  • Bank account and routing numbers

If a record might be confidential, the City may ask the Texas Attorney General to decide if it can be released. You will be informed if this happens and updated on the Attorney General’s decision.

If you seek judicial records, to include warrant/PC affidavits, please view the Municipal Court portal. For other types of requests, please select the appropriate department instead.

The City Secretary processes requests for general City records such as those mentioned below. Please review the list of record types below before submitting your request.

Submit one request per topic using the form that best matches the records you are seeking. Requests that belong to another department may be redirected, which can extend response time.
