Neighborhood Vitality

The mission of the Office of Neighborhood Vitality is to engage and connect Mesquite residents with the appropriate resources to maintain safe and sustainable neighborhoods.

Goals of Neighborhood Vitality:

  1. Increase the number of active neighborhood groups.
  2. Encourage positive engagement in local neighborhoods.
  3. Train Neighborhood Leaders to assist in stabilizing healthy neighborhoods.
  4. Coordinate programs and events that help to maintain neighborhoods.

We ask that local residents become involved by ensuring their neighborhood is registered as a Neighborhood Group.

Neighborhood Group Principles

  • Being Neighborly: Neighbors get to know each other and watch out for each other.
  • Education: City departments educate citizens about city services and quality of life issues.
  • Sense of Pride: Education and working together creates a sense of pride and belonging for participants. This creates a bond for the group, giving them a sense of shared purpose to make their neighborhood safe.

If your home is not in a Neighborhood Watch area, and you would like to start a Neighborhood Watch group, contact the Neighborhood Vitality office at 972-216-6348 or register your group.

We ask that local residents become involved by ensuring their neighborhood is registered as a Neighborhood Group.

Neighborhood Leaders

The purpose of Neighborhood Leaders is to serve as neighborhood conduits for setting and meeting neighborhood goals. These residents are volunteers who facilitate the recruitment of additional volunteers within the neighborhood. Exercising consistent and common neighborhood practices will assist with stabilizing and maintaining a safe and healthy neighborhood.
