City Council helps raise $15,871 for Special Olympics Texas

Free tax assistance at Mesquite Main Library

Mesquite Main Library hosts free tax assistance program

The Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive, will host free tax assistance for residents. The sessions are Feb. 11 and 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25; and April 1, 8 and 15. Sessions are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the library at 972-216-6220.

Mesquite Metro Airport continues to expand

Mesquite Metro Airport has completed $2.8 million in improvements. These include an extension of the runway and a new runway lighting system. A recent Texas Aviation Economic Impact Study published by the Texas Department of Transportation reported the airport has a $22.7 million dollar economic impact on the Mesquite community. Christina Hickey, Infrastructure Asset Manager

Texas Public Works Association recognizes City employee

The North Central Texas Branch of the Texas Public Works Association named Christina Hickey as 2018 Member of the Year. Christina is the Infrastructure Asset Manager in Mesquite’s Public Works Department. She helps oversee major capital improvement projects for the City including the residential street bond program.
