City Council to meet Feb. 4 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave.

The Mesquite City Council Pre-Meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B. The Work Session begins at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber followed by the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. Meeting agendas are available online at cityofmesquite.com/CouncilAgenda. Meetings are broadcast at cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings and via Facebook Live.


2019 Mesquite Polar Plunge: kid sliding into the water

Special Olympics Texas hosts Polar Plunge on Feb. 2


The community can support local Special Olympics Texas athletes by participating in the 2019 Polar Plunge. The event is scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 2 at City Lake Aquatic Center, 200 Parkview St. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and plunging into the cold water starts at 10 a.m. To register as an individual or team, or to support an existing participant or team, visit www.sotx.org.


Free tax assistance at Mesquite Main Library

Mesquite Main Library hosts free tax assistance program beginning Feb. 4


The Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive, will host free tax assistance for residents. The sessions are Feb. 4, 11 and 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25; and April 1, 8 and 15. Sessions are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Taxpayers must bring their financial documents including a copy of last year’s income tax return, W-2 forms from employers and other related financial information. 2019 Neighborhood Summit

Deadline to register for 2019 Neighborhood Summit is Feb. 8


The event is open to all residents and takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Mesquite ISD Professional Development Center, 2600 Motley Drive. Mesquite Symphony Orchestra: Follow us into the wild

Mesquite Symphony Orchestra (MSO) performs Feb. 9


MSO presents their “Follow Us Into the Wild” concert on Feb. 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Historic Mesquite, Inc. presents Be Mine at the Park

Historic Mesquite, Inc. hosts Be Mine at the Park event Feb. 9


Celebrate Valentine's Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9, at Opal Lawrence Historical Park, 711 E. Kearney St. The event includes candy, photo booths, tours of the historic Lawrence House, and a valentine’s card creation station. Tickets are only $10 per family.
