The Mesquite City Council Pre-Meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B. 2019 Mesquite Polar Plunge: kid sliding into the water

Special Olympics Texas hosts Polar Plunge on Feb. 2

The community can support local Special Olympics Texas athletes by participating in the 2019 Polar Plunge. The event is scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 2 at City Lake Aquatic Center, 200 Parkview St. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and plunging into the cold water starts at 10 a.m. To register as an individual or team, or to support an existing participant or team, visit www.sotx.org.

Free tax assistance at Mesquite Main Library

Mesquite Main Library hosts free tax assistance program beginning Feb. 4

The Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive, will host free tax assistance for residents. The sessions are Feb. 4, 11 and 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25; and April 1, 8 and 15. Sessions are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Taxpayers must bring their financial documents including a copy of last year’s income tax return, W-2 forms from employers and other related financial information. Deadline to register for 2019 Neighborhood Summit is Feb. 8

The event is open to all residents and takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16, starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Mesquite ISD Professional Development Center, 2600 Motley Drive.
