City Council to meet April 21The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on April 21. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on April 21 to the City Secretary. Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

Kick off spring with events around townHistoric Mesquite will host Doggy Derby Day, a Kentucky Derby-themed event for pets and people from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 19 at Opal Lawrence Historical Park. Mesquite to host Citywide Council District PicnicThe City will host a Citywide Council District Picnic from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the north lawn of the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Ave. All residents are invited to the gathering, which will feature family-friendly activities and food, as well as the opportunity to meet Councilmembers, City staff and your neighbors.

Spring into events at the Arts Center The Mesquite Arts Theatre presents the comedy, "The Fortune Cookie." Shows run through April 27 at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N.
